Oye Amritsar joins Revu

Oye Amritsar

Oye Amritsar is a savior to those northies who just can't get used to eating the south Indian cuisine. No, there are a lot of joints which caters to north Indian palettes but if are missing the typical Delhi punjabi-dhabba kind of joint, Oye Amritsar is your answer. One of the main reason they are able to maintain the quality is that they actually listen to their customers. who else is your best critique in this industry?

Now Oye Amritsar (Koramangala) takes the next step to come closer to it's customer by becoming the first Restaurant to officially join Revu platform. This means, you can now leave a Revu (on web or on mobile my sending the sms revu oyeamritsarkora <message> to 9243 000 111) and you will be heard by the managers there. If you have waited for your order a little too long, or that Tikka was too spicy or you just want to say Hi, shoot a Revu.

In coming weeks, the Punjab Da Puttar of Oye Amritsar will be pampered with a surprise. The race is on, lets see who will be the winner.

Revu Recommends

T

Revu, as you know is a fun way to record your experiences while you are having it and share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. Your social media network is a very powerful tool that you have. Not only it lets you share stuff with your friends, it can also help in recommending what's best for you based on your social network. But the existing social network don't do a good job of it, and you end up explicitly asking your friends for what's the best Chinese restaurant in south Bangalore? and then wait for an answer. Hello is anyone listening?

Recommending a restaurant based on your friends visit is perhaps the single most easiest thing possible. You can now do that on Revu. When you sign up with your Facebook or Twitter account (we prefer you link both), Revu scouts to see which one of your friends on that network are on Revu, which restaurants they have Revu'ed about and recommends them to you based on popularity. The little widget on the right side after you are logged in, which says "Revu Recommends" is what you are looking for.

Give it a spin, ask your friends to join Revu, ask them to leave Revu and see how Revu recommends gets better as more and more of your friends join and leave Revu's.

Happy Revuing

Say it If you liked our service

Printo is arguably one of the best one-stop-shop for all your printing needs. Their undying attention to customer satisfaction has won many a loyal customers. They may not deliver the prints to your doorsteps, and they may not be the cheapest, But you invariably end up at their shop even for your most basic requirement.

And now with Revu, Printo is one step closer to listening to it's customer. Have a praise or a bone to pick? just SMS "revu printo <message>" to +91 9243 000 111 and log onto http://www.revu.in/printo to see what others have to say.

Text your Review

How many times has it happened to you that you are sitting in a restaurant, enjoying an awesome dish and badly wanting to share it with all of your friends and to tell them to try it out when they come to that restaurant? Or just want to leave a note of warning to anyone coming in next to beware of bad service? Well there is nothing that you could do just sitting there except maybe to burrp (excuse me..) or just keep your mouth shut(pun intended).

That's exactly what we experienced and decided to create a very simple to use micro review site. Revu (as in short for review, and pronounced the same way) in it's most basic form helps you to record a review by just sending a simple SMS right at the time of experience. No more coming back home, switching on internet, logging in your review site and leaving a review. The same Revu can be posted instantly on your Twitter profile and your Facebook wall if you have linked your
accounts with your mobile number.

It also has a very fast mobile and web interface on which you can leave a review, research about a restaurant, add a restaurant (or anything for that matter) in a jiffy. We are also talking to various businesses (Restaurants primarily) to use Revu as their feedback forum and to reward their customers who leave a review about them on Revu.

Head to http://www.revu.in either on your desktop browser or your mobile browser and start leaving your Revu's.

Mayorship is boring, make way for Punjab da Puttar

Yes, being a mayor used to be cool sometime ago. And if you were a mayor of Starbucks you could have one dollar off your frappuccino. But both the discount as well as the coolness is now gone. Infact you even get beaten on Twitter/Facebook trying to broadcast that you are a mayor of your own home.

At Revu we thought it would be cool to call someone, lets say Punjab Da Puttar for having maximum number of points at a Punjabi restaurant. And how about Cacofonix for showing your undying loyalty to your favorite band? And thats what we have done at Revu. Do checkout these nice titles and if you have suggestions for some jazzy titles, send them in.

Oh and yeah, By the way we also have our mobile site up and running at http://m.revu.in. So if the SMS syntax was too daunting for you to leave a review and checkin, you can do that on the mobile site too. We have also added tonnes of listing across major Indian cities, So if you happen to visit one today, do check it out on the mobile site and leave a Revu.

Are your Social Media Efforts really Social?

The race to a million likes on facebook or a 100K followers on twitter. Is that what leveraging social media is about? Companies seem to have taken their first steps in going social, by setting up a facebook page or a twitter account.

You know how they talk about Dell having garnered millions of dollars of business by giving away exclusive offers on twitter. If you consider giving away freebees in return for business as a success parameter, its been done ever since business existed. Replicating that success on a different platform by following this age old strategy can hardly be deemed as a successful use of the platform.

Social Media was intended to connect consumers with consumers. With the intrusion of brands, in an otherwise human world, the best case situation is that consumers now treat the brand as one of them.

Lets not assume that I think being human is not a great move by a brand. It is, but it still doesn't leverage the true power of social media.

If you as a brand want to do that, you need to architect a conversation around your brand, so the consumers are still talking to other consumers, but now they are talking about your brand. More difficult of course, but if done right, you unlock some serious potential.

What are your thoughts on architecting a conversation around a brand?

    • If you post multiple unrelated updates to a trending or popular topic;
    • If you add a large number of unrelated users to lists in an attempt to spam a service or link;
    • If you repeatedly post other users' Revus as your own;
    • If you create false or misleading Points of Interest;
    • If you create Points of Interest to namesquat or spam.
  • Pornography: You may not use obscene or pornographic images in either your profile picture or user background

Your account may be suspended for Terms of Service violations if any of the above is true. Please see our help pages on Following Best Practices and Automation Rules and Best Practices for a more detailed discussion of how the Rules apply to those particular account behaviors.
